Mt. Washington Restoration Proceeding on Schedule

The Mt. Washington Course in Bretton Woods, NH is looking good for a scheduled August 2008 opening... seeding of greens and fairways began in August of '07. The good folks at Mt Washington came up with the original Ross detailed plans for the course and these revealed a course intended to have wonderful strategy and playing interest.

Working with folks like Pat Corsi and Matt Massei - both steeped in the great traditional designs of Pinehurst in North Carolina - made for a great environment in which to turn the design clock back to a wonderfully creative time in the history of the game and the craft of course design. All involved are enthused about the project and feel that finally, there's going to be a golf course worthy of this magnificent setting. We have a great assortment of archival photos of the old course as well as construction shots of last year's work that we'll post here soon. This is going to be a great year for golf in the White Mountains!

The next phase of the master plan to upgrade the golf facility at Mt Washington will be to add nine holes to the resort's Mount Pleasant course - at which point they will two 18-hole courses.

Restoring Penobscot Valley

Back to Maine for Another Harris Golf Project
I'm working on a new project for Harris Golf  in the "Great State of Maine" once again (my first was Old Marsh Country Club in Wells). This time around, I'll be overseeing the restoration of Donald Ross's Penobscot Valley Country Club just outside of Bangor, designed by Ross in 1924. We anticipate completion of the project before season's end. Folks up in Orono are already excited about the work that's been done.
