Project Notes
Seth Raynor’s influence-- deep, flat-bottomed bunkers; huge greens that fall off steeply into those bunkers; numerous, randomly placed bunkers that give fairways movement and contour-- is everywhere at Old Marsh. Raynor standards, as well as those of his mentor, C.B. Macdonald, include an Alps feature and Punchbowl green on #2, an authentic Redan or two (#s 5 and 14) and the Cape hole, reprised several times but never better than at 16 where a long par-4 bends around a colorful marshland. What They're Saying
Before Old Marsh had even seen a full season of 18-hole play (it opened to the public on August 1st, 2008), it had been featured in national golf publications including a short feature in Golf Magazine and Continental Airlines' in-flight magazine. In December of 2008, Golf Magazine ranked Old Marsh as one of the "Top 10 Best New Courses You Can Play" in the country."To arouse interest, each hole should have character of its own and should be one not easy to forget. Its personality should awaken your interest and cause you to question how best to approach it." --Robert Hunter
